The 8 series Parking Detector is Nortech’s new flagship Parking Vehicle Detector which addresses the market’s need for a slimline, advanced vehicle detection solution. Our Automatic Frequency Selection
(AFS) algorithms introduced in the 7 series detectors have been refined and optimised resulting in simplified setup and installation of complex multi-lane access control sites. The new wireless diagnostic
unit, the DU800, supported by the 8 series detectors allows for detector configuration and installation feedback on any iOS or Android device. This eliminates the need to adjust any mechanical interfaces once the unit has been installed.
The 8 series comes with the default settings to match the performance of the legacy 3-series detector. The new slimline, DIN Rail mount housing allows for more physical connections than the traditional relay base and Nortech’s innovative modular design allows for the expansion of detection solutions, including but not limited to: Relay expansion units, channel expansion units, and communications interfaces.

Automatic Frequency Selection Automatically evaluates all frequency bands on start-up and selects the most suitable in the given environment based on signal strength and noise.
Response time: Detect: < 58ms ±1.5ms Undetect: < 58ms ±1.5ms
Fault detection: Open circuit and short circuit
Presence time: Permanent or limited selectable, with optional timeout on both
Drift compensation: Incorporated method of tracking changes caused by environmental conditions at a rate approximating 1% ΔL/L per minute.
Anti-locking Incorporated algorithm accommodates the influence of positive inductance changes to avoid detector lock-up.
Outputs: Outputs are fully programmable with options for presence or pulse. Each output also has a configurable Filter, Delay and Extend option.
Number of outputs: Two options available:
• 2x Relays with NO, NC and COM connections exposed
• 3x Optically isolated outputs
Output mode: Fail Safe or Fail Secure
Output assignment: Fully configurable. Outputs can also be linked to any input (2-channel detectors only).
